Some students have financial challenges that make paying some fees very difficult. Fee waivers are available from CCS counselors for the following fee-required items:

• SAT test registration
• SAT Subject test registration
• ACT test registration
• College applications
• NCAA Eligibility processing

Students wanting a fee waiver should do the following: 

1. Email their counselor and request a waiver. Students are usually eligible for fee waivers by showing they receive free or reduced lunch. Families who do have the Fall letter from CCS School Nutrition confirming eligibility should email a copy of it to their counselor.
   1. If a Parent does not have the Fall letter from School Nutrition, the parent/guardian will need to complete and sign the form found HERE, (be sure to fill out completely and sign (not electronically) and get it to/email it to the CCHS Counselor .  
2. If you need to apply for Free or Reduced Lunch you can do that using THIS link. You must re-apply each school year.

Once the CCHS counselor gets confirmation that a student is eligible they will give the student any needed fee waivers.

Once a student has a fee waiver:

To sign up for the SAT you should do the following:

• Go to Collegeboard’s SAT Suite using THIS link.
• Enter your SAT fee waiver code toward the end of your online test registration.
• First time registration will take you 30-45 minutes to complete.
• Once you’ve completed registration you should print and keep your admission ticket for the test.

To sign up for the ACT you should do the following:

• Go to the link found HERE and click on "create an account".
• You will need your ACT ID# from the ACT you took as an 11th grader in February. Using this ID # will link your CCHS scores to your new ACT account you create.
• First time registration will take you 30-45 minutes to complete.
• Once you’ve completed registration you should print and keep your admission ticket for the test.

Remember these things about fee waivers:

• Eligible students can receive two total SAT fee waivers, and two total ACT waivers.
• If you want another SAT waiver, you will find them in your CollegeBoard online dashboard.
• If you want another ACT waiver, just email your counselor and let them know what test you will be taking. Your counselor will get you the waiver.
• You can use SAT fee waivers to even sign up by the LATE deadline (But cannot sign up late for ACT).
• You can receive 4 college application waivers. You will find them in your SAT Dashboard. You will mail them to your college.
• Each college can handle application waivers differently. Be sure to look at your college's admissions website and see how you must apply. (Online through their website? On CFNC? Some other way?)
